I am proud to have been your full-time Fire Chief since 1999. My position is appointed by the elected Board of Directors.

The Placer Hills Fire District provides emergency services to the communities of Applegate, Clipper Gap, Eden Valley, Meadow Vista, Sleepy Hollow and Weimar. Our two full-time staffed stations are Meadow Vista and Weimar. This staffing pattern allows us to provide the public with an excellent 6 minute 30 second average response time. We also have an Applegate Station which is for our volunteers and resident firefighters who live there while off duty.

We staff our fire engines with an Officer and a Paramedic. We respond to over 800 calls for assistance every year. Almost 80% of our business is for medical emergencies so having a paramedic on board provides an exceptional level of service to our public. Our engines are staffed with a combination of full-time and part-time personnel. We currently have 4 full-time and 35 part-time employees. Due to the economic crisis of the past 5 years, we have been unable to fill 2 vacant full-time paramedic positions.

We also supplement our staffing with a dedicated corps of volunteers and we hold a volunteer training academy every year for those interested in serving their community.

I believe our 6 minute 30 second average response time, with highly trained Officers, Paramedics and Firefighters provides an amazing level of protection for our rural community.

I am proud to be the Fire Chief of such a fine organization and, as always, very grateful for the support shown to us by our communities.
